What is Salvation?

What is Salvation?

Salvation is the unmerited gift of Almighty God’s unfailing and redemptive love embodied in the sinless life, crucifixion and bodily resurrection of Jesus of Nazareth, God’s One and Only Begotten Son.  He completely forgives any genuinely believing recipient of his sins and restores him to a right relationship with the Heavenly Father culminating in eternal life.  Unquestionably, salvation is an act of grace, God’s unearned favor.  Humankind cannot effectuate salvation; “it is a gift of God.”  Charitable deeds do not possess any determining significance relating to a person’s salvation.  Human beings receive salvation through sincere faith in Almighty God’s lovingkindness as personified in Christ’s atoning sacrifice.  (Ephesians 2:8-10)  Anyone who desires salvation must call humbly and sincerely upon the Name of the Lord; confessing verbally that “Jesus is Lord” and believing in his heart that Almighty God raised Jesus from the dead.  (Romans 10:9-13)

God’s gift of salvation originates in His perfect, faithful and sacrificial love for humankind.  In everlastingly pardoning humankind’s rebellion and infidelity through Adam and Eve’s disobedience in the Garden of Eden, God bestows His perfect grace.  Human being share the corrupt blood line, genealogy and legacy of original sin which manifests in self-glorification and self-aggrandizement.  To restore an original and righteous relationship with Almighty God, humankind undergoes a thorough regeneration.  Incarnating His “perfect love” (1 John 4:18), God sends Jesus into the world to offer humankind the opportunity to receive unconditional forgiveness of sins and new life through faith in the salvific work of Christ upon the cross.  (John 3:16-21 and 5:24)
