Inaugural Posting of Ephesians 3:20 Encouraging and Empowering Faith Blog Part IV

Social justice ministry is an important dimension of Ephesians 3:20 faith. The latter part of the verse refers to God’s power that is at work within us. We receive divine power that results in self-actualization and wholeness. God graciously gives us this power so that we may serve as His instruments. On a practical level, we personify God’s love through the use of our resources to meet the direct needs of hurting people, particularly those persons whom we consider “the least” in our midst. In one of the end time parables, Matthew 25:31-46, the Lord Jesus Christ declares that meeting the needs of the downtrodden, poor and destitute equates with serving Him directly. We are blessed so that we may be a blessing to those brothers and sisters in need. God makes us whole so that we may selflessly serve Him by meeting the needs of His children.

In addition to ministering to the direct needs of people, advocacy is a means of service. Correcting entrenched societal inequities and eliminating their systemic causes is as significant as monetary donations, clothing, housing, prison visits, and medical care. In fact, the prevalence of racism, sexism, classism, and xenophobia contributes significantly to dehumanizing poverty. The scriptures exhort us to speak for those persons who cannot speak for themselves. As God’s servants, we defend the poor and oppressed against brutal poverty that prevents them from actualizing their God given talents and natural endowments. An Ephesians 3:20 faith straightforwardly confronts social injustices utilizing God’s power.

As I conclude this inaugural posting, I wish to reiterate the dual purpose of this blog. First, it will encourage you with inspiring and faithful submissions written to compound your joy as a seeker of God’s truth. Spirituality offers more than the ability to subsist in life. The image of a person barely treading in deep water describes my faith journey for many years. It is very hard to experience the enduring riches of life when you fight daily to keep your head above the waves of uncertainty. Quite simply, as I more humbly experience God’s unfailing love and unconditional self-acceptance, I refuse to live as someone barely keeping his nose above water in the ocean of life!

Second, this blog seeks to empower you as you more fully seek God’s will for your life. Hopefully, as you follow the blog, you will be able to add to your spiritual toolbox. Practicing daily spiritual disciplines equips you to realize the life that you imagine. Again, Abraham received a son, his heart’s greatest desire and mind’s most precious dream. You too can experience such joy if you acquire an Ephesians 3:20 faith.

I end with a recitation of the Amplified Bible translation of Ephesians 3:20. “Now to Him Who, by (in consequence of) the [action of His] power that is at work within us, is able to [carry out His purpose and] do superabundantly, far over and above all that we [dare] ask or think [infinitely beyond our highest prayers, desires, thoughts, hopes or dreams].” Each day, I pray that this verse encourages and empowers you to receive your heart’s deepest desire and your mind’s most inconceivable dream in accordance with the “good, pleasing and perfect” will of Almighty God for your life.
